Could you explain the problem you are having a little more in depth. Your huge run-on sentence is a bit sketchy and hard to follow..

Common problem. Data collision when the RSS tries to read the HT1000's code plug.

The HT1000 RSS MUST run in pure DOS, NO Windows...
Computer too fast.

Motorola DOS RSS runs under pure DOS only. The DOS that's used in Windows
doesn't work. Yes, you have to either get another computer or else partition your
present machine to run pure DOS, but the catch with that is that your machine may
also be too fast for the RSS, so what most of us do is to get a used 386 for ten or
twenty bucks to do the job. The DOS version you want to get is 6.22.

There is a ton of info on this Board about this subject, so if you do a search you'll
probably come up with some more useful information.

My factory HT1000/VISAR RSS runs fine with DOS 7.0 on a 166mHz laptop.

RSS 486 Compatibility Matrix
The following is a list of RSS packages of interest. Those marked "Yes" are currently 486 compatible

HT1000 & VISAR Conventional RVN-4098H May-98 Yes

I set up the laptops at my shop, they are dell d520's and d530's with core2 duo's at 1.66ghz. I use partition manager and pqboot to create a fat32 partition with all the dos rss on it, install dos 7.0 (from under windows 98se) and its good. I can run any software off the pentium compatibility chart without issue, on a current production laptop. He doesn't need a different pc, he just needs to get int real dos. If his pc boots to usb he could make a fat32 bootable jumpdrive with the rss on it.
