I have a XTS3000 flash 599108-5F4600-1, what exactly does that mean ? I'm just getting my feet wet in the radio service. Can someone please help teach me how to read this ?

If you want to add options in your XTS (ie, change the flashcode), you have to send it in to M. (That is, if your radio is legit, tags match, etc.). This can get VERY costly, and, with people sending thier radio into the depot lately, who knows what radio you'll get back.
IMO, if you want/need an XTS to do something, research the radio first, and (sell the one you have), and get the one you REALLY want/need. This I find is the BEST/quickest way to go about doing it. Otherwise, you will end up spending a lot of your TIME and MONEY.
Edit - upon reading your post again, you said "get updates",
do you want to update your HOST/DSP, or flashcode with a different one?

What is your current HOST/DSP?
What is your current flashcode?

What are you hoping to accomplish?

For the rank and file user, your not really gaining much unless you have an older DSP (pre v8) AND using digital. For conventional uses, your really not adding much to your radio experience.

But, if you want to update the firmware (HOST/DSP) a software "refresh" runs $75 + whatever the shop may charge for doing the upgrade. The refresh is bought from Motorola by the shop.

If your looking to add features to the flashcode, you need to buy them thru the shop (which orders it from Motorola) + whatever the shop charges for the work.

These software packages are not available online or in a do-it-yourself kit for the end users. Major account holders (IE statewide trunking customers and the like) may be able to get firmware updates, but they still need to go thru processes to get other upgrades.

Thank you to anyone who tried helping me. However due to legal issues this matter is now dead. I ask that this forum is closed.

After some reading, I would say someone was messing with a radio he didn't own, and the system admin is a member, or at least reads this site. Just my opinion.

Being told I cant use my personal units, that I use for my commerical use, as a scanner on a P25 system. There for legal issues. Nothing else ...

I love how people always assume things before they know. I own all my own equp. I have for years, I just don't want to deal with updating an outdated pice of elec. IE the flash question. It would cost to much and isn't worth the trouble. This matter can be closed and locked. Thank you.
