Digital carrier squelch not a valid option? Help?

Post by Elroy Jetson »

800001-000000-2 is the flashcode of a radio I'm having a little trouble with.

It won't allow me to select digital carrier squelch on the receive side. The box goes red.

I'm a little rusty on this and not 100 percent certain that this is a CAI-compliant radio, though it definitely is Astro capable.

Can anyone verify if this radio is Astro but not CAI?

I checked out the options via the decoder and it was still inconclusive to me.

I'm also not clear on the compatibility of Astro conventional operation vs. CAI conventional operation. Are they compatible?

If this radio is Astro but not CAI, what's the network ID (if there is one) that will work the same as digital carrier squelch?

I'm thinking this radio just isn't capable of doing what the customer wants. Confirmation of this would be greatly appreciated.

Since the firmware doesn't have much say compared to the flashcode to tell the CPS what features it has (at least not on the Astro line), there could indeed be IMBE firmware in the radio... however, as long as that flashcode is in there, it ain't doin IMBE, and thus ain't doin Digital CSQ.

Lack of Q806 Astro Digital Operation or Q241 Analog Only Operation automatically equals VSELP.
