MDC-1200 ID question

I have a MTS-2000 along with a HT-1550. Both are UHF, and both have a post-key ID. Neither radio will show the ID of the other radio, but if someone uses a CP-200 with post ID, my HT-1550 will decode it and the MTS-2000 won't. Is there something different about the two MDC id's thats not letting the MTS and the HT decode the ID's, or could it be just the age of the MTS and a very slight change in MDC over the years? Also, the same occurs with my MT-2000 VHF and a EX-500 vhf with MDC ID, the MT-2000 will not show the ID for the EX-500, and since the ex-500 does not have a display i can't tell about that one. On the MT-2000 I have the caller Id enabled, so it should show it. any ideas? Thanks,

-Ed

If your using the same mdc id it won't decode. It has to be a different id.

it doesn't have to be different, all you need to do is put it in the alias section and give it a different name and it will show up.

Don't waste your Time,The MT-2000 does not display MDC ID. It can decode it, But will not display it.

I concur. I had an MT2000 for about 8 years, and the ID display never worked. You can activate the caller ID display all day long with no avail.

oh ok, the mt-2000 i'm not worried so much about, but what about the MTS-2000 not decoding the id? I forgot the ID in the HT-1550 and the MTS were the same, so I changed the HT and now the MTS's id shows on the HT, but the HT won't show on the MTS. I can't program the MTS, but is there a caller ID option that has to be turned on like the MT-2000? Thanks for the help.

Unless your MTS2000 is flashed for MDC encode/decode (which most are NOT), then your MTS will NOT display the ID of the other radio. As I said though, most MTS2000's are not flashed for that. Get the flashcode of your MTS (on the back of the radio, bottom left hand side of the tag, or just press the button with two dots on the side of the radio, and the flashcode will scroll across the screen), and put it in the interactive Flashcode decoder here on Batlabs. That will tell you for sure what your MTS is capable of doing.

ok, the MTS-2000's flash code is very, very basic, so it won't do decode. Now my next question is, can't I get it flashed to do it, or would it be more than its worth? Thanks for the help guys,

I seem to recall the VHF/UHF MTS2000 could do MDC decode by default regardless of flashcode, and only the 800MHz units required the flash option, according to some past threads here. I don't know for sure, I've only ever dealt with 800MHz units.

Nope, I've had several UHF MTS2000 units that would NOT do anything related to MDC ( the entire MDC menu was shaded out in the CPS).

I sure wish they could though 8) Or, if someone does know a way, to let me know :)

As for if it would be worth it to flash your radio to do MDC, IMO no. I'd just sell the unit you have, and get the unit with the flash you need. Believe me, that would be the MUCH easier (and quicker) step !
