Hello all.

I have a VHF M1225 20/24 model version.

A few things to ask.

1). Radio has the aux connector on the back, if not plugged in, unit will not power up. Is there a way as I have a second idential unit without this plug and radio is fine. I looked in the Help files and reviewed the external power accessories area and all is the same. How can I eliminate having to need this external power wire?

2) MAIN PROBLEM
I have tried 3 different mics thinking it was a mic problem but is not. On any channel, when I transmit, the small bar on the left side shows the unit is transmitting, but it is not transmitting. When you un-key, the radio still shows as if it was transmitting. When you shut the radio off, the repeater then keys up as if someone just bumped the mic quickly.

Suggestions/Ideas? If a problem that needs sent to shop, what are we looking at to fix?

In answer to your first question, check F401(located on the main board and directly behind pins 1 & 3 of the accessory connector. It may be open or may have been removed/clipped. With this fuse out of the circuit, you would need to supply A+ to pin 13 of the accessory connector in order for the M1225 to powerup.
In answer to your second question, while you have the top cover off the radio, check for water/liquid damage around the volume/mic control & connector area. What current does the M1225 draw off the A+ supply when you key the transmitter? If it's very low, you may have a faulty PA. If it's normal(12-14 amps) it's time to double check the programming. If that looks OK, it's service bench time.
