RICK type product

Hi all,

Im designing a RICK type product for the use of tying two radios together (single or bi-directional) configuration that works faster than a RICK. In the past I assumed the EASYLink from IDA was the answer, but its not. In high moisture environments, the telephone connectors corrode (like in fire trucks).

Anyway, this thing will operate with active high or low inputs or outputs. My question is this: Can anybody think of a reason why an active low input or output would NOT have an opposing pulling resistor? Same question for an active high input/output.

I cant say that I have ever used logic without pullups/pull downs, but I am curious if the vast knowledge of the users here can think of a situation....

Thanks for your time,
Jon
