CDM750 no panel lights

I have a low band CDM750 that went dead with a squeal. Now it is still dead unless I apply +12 to the ignition pin and then it comes on and works but no panel lights ( no control head leds). What can be the problem?

I replaced the control head and still no led lights.

Check surface mount fuse on main board F0401

Yes, it was the fuse. Radio is now working normal. What causes the fuse to open?
