RF BOARD REPAIR

Some poor soul transmitted into a 10 Meter Maratrac and fried the input section
of the board. And I do mean fried. Only half of two caps remain and parts of the
circuit traces are gone and that area of the board shows deep charring.
I am not sure I can clean out all the blackened remains and still have board left,
although the other side of the board shows no damage in the area.

What I was thinking of doing was to remove as much of the char as possible until
I get clean board material and then patching the hole with some as yet unknown
material. So the question is: Has anyone done this ? And if so, what did you use
for filler. Given that this is the Receiver RF Input, it must be fairly inert. I wish I
still had my samples of Emerson-Cuming Stycast !!

Thanks for any ideas.

There is a guy on the Repeater Builder Yahoo list that just offered a low split Maratrac for $50, I'd jump on that.

See message #86647.

I went over to what I assume is the repeater-builder list, but couldn't find it.
Finding a list on Yahoo can be a chore, if you don't type it in EXACTLY, you can
twirl around for days !!
