XPR4550 Rear Microphone

Post by ski7669 »

Has anyone out there been successful with connecting a rear microphone to a XPR4550 Mobile?

I am trying to connect a regular mobile mic to the accessory port of the XPR. I have had great success with this with CDMs and MaxTracs, however they just wont key the XPR.

Here is what i did:

I took a CAT5 jack and connected

Ground (pin 5 on Jack) to Pin 8 on XPR
PTT (Pin 3 on Jack) to Pin 17 on XPR
TX Audio (pin 4 on Jack) to Pin 11 on XPR

If i physically short ground and PTT, the radio keys, but no audio.

I know my pinouts from the RJ45 Jack are right, because it works great with a CDM.....

Please help me shed some light on this

Thanks!

I would try conncting the pin #3 of the mobile mic which is hook to ground. I seem to remember that on the newer palm mics that ship with the mcs2000, cdm, etc that when tried to do a remote speaker mic set up on a CDM that I had the same problem. This was a long time ago, butit had something to do with the hook line.

Good luck, Rob
