LTR Trunking

Our Company has 2 LTR Passport systems. One has 7 channels and the other has 6 channels. They are linked via Fiber, which is currently down and is being troubleshot now. Our HT1250LS+ has both sites programmed into them and has one home channel from each site programmed in. Everything seems to be going well. Except for the registration time. Currently the shortest time it takes to register onto the system is 4 seconds. By adding a "Collect" channel to each site, would the registration time be reduced? I think 4 seconds takes too long.

Out of 7+ trunking sites, these are the only 2 LTR Passport systems. I'm spoiled with Smartnet. Please let me know how I can reduce this registration time. Thanks.

Both sites should have collect channels already unless there is no roaming between sites. You can try setting the roam wait time under system timers in the zone and talkdroup data field to the lowest value. I believe this should be set to double the time of your sync pulse from the site. This timer determines how long it sits on each channel in its neighbor list getting an RSSI reading during roaming.

Set the site sync pulse to 1 sec (or 1hz for Andrew :) at the two sites on the home and collect channels. If the channel is pulsing at a faster rate the radio will have to spend less time on each channel waiting to get an RSSI reading.

If the radio doesn't roam then disable roam in the talkdroup data field, it will register immediately when it sees the home channel sync pulse.

Give those a try and let me know how it works out.

Now that I think about things more, 4 seconds seems about right from radio start up to registering on the home channel or last registered channel. If either of those aren't in range expect longer times but 4 seconds is probably the fastes time you will see.
