Gentlemen.
I have a system saber H43TUK5170CN with a sequre module NTN5758A.(DES-XL ?)
The secure part has always worked ok, until one day, the battery was removed.
I understand that that is also the way the radio should work.

I have now purchase a KVL :T3011CX serial 424CRLO212

The cable between the kvl and saber i have made myself out of old motorola plug (mx and saber )

KVL signal saber
9 gnd 10
8 key 9
7 /we 5
6 kid 11

the cable seems ok, but im not able to load the key to the radio.
The radio shows "keyload" when pressing the PTT on the KVL.
on the kvl: first show busy, then fail.

The saber seems able at this time to send a key when transmitting (shows key a) when ptt.
But it only come out a "tone" at the receiving radio.
If i now turn of the neewly loaded saber , and then power it up again. The radio shows keyfail when PTT ????????????

I wonder if anyone have a solution ??? :o
Regards

Roger

The NTN5758A is a multi-key DES-XL module. Pin 10 on the Saber is /keyload not ground. All four pins on the Saber have a 5.6 V zener diode between them and ground. You might want to check that one of them isn't shorted or leaking.

I tested the diodes.
They where all OK.
You say that pin 1o is keyload, not Gnd. But is the configuration on my cable OK ?

The Saber pins are identified correctly and the ones you need. IIRC the keyload line is forced low when you press the "Load" button on the keyloader (basically ground) so call pin 10 ground if you want or keyload, it shouldn't make too much difference. Take a look at the photos at the bottom of this discussion, http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=77054 , it might help. The labeling of the Saber pinout is correct. I don't know about the KVL pinout.
