Digital Radio Systems

I'm fairly new to digital radios. I own some digital radios but I've never owned a digital scanner. I know of some radio users that are on digital. I programmed the frequency into one of my radios with the default NAC code with nothing heard. How could I find out the NAC code? Do the digital scanners have a feature where it will search for an NAC code similar to the PL/DPL search feature? Any information would be nice because I am very new to the digital world.

Thanks!

You might try taking a look at the site www.radioreference.com and see if it doesn't have the information
your looking for. When you go to the site, over on the left is a selection that says RR database in the
second block down. Click on that and then select the state of interest. Then you will have both county
and major cities that have trunking systems.

There is a huge amount of information available on the radio reference site. Good hunting for your info.

What kind of radio is it? If it's an older Motorola IMBE-equipped radio, don't forget to set the radio to Digital Carrier Squelch.

This setting is located in CPS under the following:

Conventional Personality > (open your ASTRO conventional personality) > ASTRO Tab > RX Unmute Rule

Set this to "Digital CSQ". This should solve the problem with the radio not unmuting.

I believe earlier firmware versions and perhaps earlier radios didn't support the "Receive All NAC", and setting it to $293 will not cause it to unmute, you must set it to "Digital CSQ".

Don't forget that this must be done on a per-channel basis. And all of this assumes you are using either a Motorola ASTRO Saber or XTS 3000 series portable, or ASTRO Spectra mobile.

Hope this helps.
