Re: Motorola XTS2500 Display Kit Question for UHF-R2

I recently purchased a used Motorola XTS2500i UHF-R2 from Panter88 on eBay and of course it appears to have a display issue.

I have read over SRN-1450, however they do NOT outline the correct part number for the UHF-R2 models. I am thinking that the UHF-R1 part number containing the C03 would be correct since the radio has the C04 display and it does not appear to work correctly.

Has anyone else found the correct part number for this model radio? My model number is: H46SDH9PW7BN

The SRN-1450 only appears to address the "AN" models and not the "BN" models.

I need to order these parts for this unit A.S.A.P. if anyone can assist...

Thanks,

There is only 1 display for the R1/R2 UHF XTS2500's as I understand it. You should be OK with ordering and swapping that part.

Keep in mind with any Panter radio that they do not qualify for SRN's as they do not have Motorola serial numbers and are not tagged portables.

Alex,

Thanks for the response and I do understand that the Panter88 radios do not qualify for the SRN, however that is the only reference I could find on MOL with regards to these correct part numbers since the basic service manual only calls out the "C04" display module and nothing else.

Looking a little closer at the SRN-1450 document, I noticed that they didn't actually call out the XTS2500 series in UHF-R1, they referred to the XTS5000 series in UHF-R1. Does both of these radios utilize the same display modules???

If so, the part number I was able to come up with is: 7285726C03 for a UHF-R1 LCD replacement. I need to make sure this is correct as I do not want to waste money on the incorrect part. Again, I need a replacement display module for the UHF-R2 unit, model# H46SDH9PW7BN.

Alex, I suspect that you and I are both correct that the UHF is the same for both RF bands but I just want some additional confirmation.

Anyone else have any insight as well???

Thanks,

Okay here's a little more insight that we can all share in. After taking a closer look at the two basic service manuals (XTS2500 & XTS5000 series) I noticed a discrepancy in the part number of the display module contained with certain model radios.

For example, in the XTS5000 service manual under the UHF R2 section, the display module part number is: 7285726C03, note the "C03".

For example, in the XTS2500 service manual under the UHF R2 section, the display module part number is: 7285726C04, note the "C04"

First off, does anyone know if these two model radios use the same display modules?

Secondly, and someone please speak up if I am wrong, but it would appear Motorola has done a poor job at keeping their service manuals up-to-date, even with the insert pages, or is the information on MOL just a little stale sometimes and requires deaper searching?

Still, from what I see so far, the correct display model for the UHF R1 or R2 bands should be the "C03" or MOL Part# 7285726C03, can anyone confirm this???

Thanks,

7285726C01 - Astro25 Display LCD - XTS 2500 & XTS 5000 1st Gen Display (Vocon NTN9564) NLA
7285726C02 - Astro25 Display LCD - K/U split XTS 5000 w/ Vocon NNTN4717
7285726C03 - Astro25 Display LCD - Q/S Split XTS 5000 w/ Vocon NNTN4717
7285726C04 - Astro25 Display LCD - XTS 2500

So, if you have a C04 display for your UHF R2 (S) Split XTS 2500, it is the right module.

The XTS 2500 Basic Service Manual 6816984H01-B is the latest that I'm aware of and it lists the correct part number for the display.

Well I ordered and replaced the display with "7285726C04 - Astro25 Display LCD - XTS 2500" as noted above and I am still having this same issues. We then thought it could possibly be a firmware issue so the radio received a bump and still the same issue...

Anyone have any suggestions???

As a note, the display stays functioning longer than did the original, however you can physically seem that Motorola has changed something between the two "C04" displays as they appear just a little different...

Happy Holiday's all...
