XTS5000: will not open tone sq on one analog repeater?

Recently I picked up a used XTS5000, Model III. Everything seems to wok perfectly, except on one amateur VHF anaog repeater, with gated PL of 77.0, the radio will only open the speaker (tone sq) intermittently. All other repeaters and tests are fine, it's just this one machine where this occurs.

I've been told that when the programming was done it was set to RX "Standard" Unmute rather than and/or, etc in the conventional personality for the channel, thus only opening when PL is decoded.

I do know that this machine has a "healty" deviation, in other words, it is slightly wide and with a robust audio contour. All other radios I have are fine, and nobody else has complained about this problem...

Any ideas, is there a setting to increase the decode sensitivity?

Thanks

Remember that the decode work in an XTS5000 is done in DSP. This results in tighter tolerances to deviation, PL deviation, and PL frequency. I'd guess that the repeater is deviating outside the passband of the XTS ("healthy" deviation be damned - there is no excuse for most hambone repeaters nor radios making 6-7K deviation) or that the tone frequency generated by the repeater is slightly off. I have a portable repeater with a TS32 inside which was a bit far off the tone frequency and thus wouldn't open the XTS' squelch. 3000s, Astro Sabers, and MTS2000s did not exhibit similar behavior, but the 5K did.

we had the same problem with a bunch of us running our 5ks on our south talk out ham radio repeater. we went down to the site put the monitor on it and re adjusted and put a different pl read in. Problem went away. Pain in the butt though everybody elses cheap radios worked fine but our 1ooo dollar radios wouldnt work. It was nice that we had control to be able to fix the problem it sucks if you don't have any say on the repeater that you might operate on.

Gentlemen, thank you for your info. I am pleased to know that it is not an issue with the XTS5k. I will probablyinquire to the owner if the tone has been put on the service monitor as of late. It seems it could be either the tone being off just a bit and/or a bit of overdeviation (possibly, I don't know if it is).

Thanks,

Great info again!
