Batboard

I recently purchased an MP500 Railroad Lunchbox radio. I'd like to make it a little more useable - maybe swap out the HT that is in it for something programmable and leave in the RF amplifier. Before I start into 'uncharted' waters, has anyone else done anything with lunchbox radios?

seeing how it is a RR version i would not change it out. seeing how there are verry few RR channels some one may be able to use it with the channels it has what frequencys does it have now
