I need a radio quick and cheap, to possibly last until 12.5 channel spacing is required and although I think the Waris stuff is hamsexy, I would be willing to take a step back in terms of the Motorola timeline - so...

First, can these handle MDC alias decoding?

Second, is there an easy way to tell if a business frequency is all narrowband, or will still accept wide band.

Thirdly, do I have to do crazy hex mods in order to take a console mount and make it a remote mount, or is it as simple as the Waris stuff?

A Spectra won't work on splinter channels, so that's out. An Astro Spectra with the appropriate RF deck. As far as the business frequency, you would have to check the emission mask on the license, as well as the other equipment on the system.

Well I know it won't be able to work down the road, but I was surveying it as a possible option. Just copied the codeplug off a HT1250 there, I will have to see what it is set on - didn't get a chance to look before I had to take off.
