Programming a radio that has new firmware with old software?

Is there any way to program a radio that has new firmware in it, with an older CPS program? This is involving the /\/\ Astro "line of products."

Thanks!

If you have a previously stored codeplug for the radio in question, compatable with the CPS revision in question, then you should be able to program it in.

If you don't, then you would have to try and find a DOS archive and/or a donor SRecord that is compatable with the CPS revision in question, and matches your model and flash options.

Be warned that doing this may lead to undesired radio operation, and if you go the latter method, you would need to copy over the tuning values from the current codeplug, or better yet do a full retune/realigh of the radio.

The best opition would be to use the latest revision of CPS. What is the current Host/DSP for your radio, and what revision of CPS are you trying to use?

The software is R10, and the host/dsp are 12.00.11, and 12.00.01.

Your question doesn't involve the Astro line... your question involves the Astro25 line. Since conventional tools don't work on Astro25, the answer is no - you need a CPS version equal to or greater than your firmware's major revision (so, R12 for you).

Oh jeeze,
I am sorry. I'm used to referring to it as simply "astro," but I'll take that into mind for further reference.

Anyways, okay, thank you. I am going to be visiting a friend upstate for a new years celebration who has the new version, so I'll just take care of what I can, then.
