I have a VHF Quantar that we would like to make into a portable repeater kit. Can anyone advise if they have done this before and any tips I should know before we go about doing it. I was also looking for ideas on mounting it - I had a large 1690 series Pelican case, but I don't think it is deep enough. I saw one where a guy took a Pelican case and drilled it and put connectors through the outside of the case as well as a fan unit for cooling. I came across Hardigg cases too, they make some nice rack mount rugged cases - anyone use them??? I would be using this with a small Sinclair 50W duplexer.

airflow, airflow, and airflow. Do what ever you can to mount it securely, but for god sakes, maintain adequate airflow to the PA & chassis

We have two PDR 3500 Quantar suitcase repeaters that were purchased as portable repeaters from Motorola. One VHF and one UHF. According to the manual 800 MHZ is also available.

You might look into this instead of trying to cram a normal Quanter into a suitcase.
