Are these reliable units ? Previous threads were not favorable to this unit. Many bugs in them.

I need an anolog repeater on VHF and am considering this unit or a Kenwood.

Thanks.

I have not heard a huge number of complaints regarding the TRBO repeaters. I know of quite a few in service. There have been some issues with TRBO itself, but most have been resolved by firmware update. Akardam and escomm, among others, will have more hands-on experience.

That said, you can't go wrong with a TKR-750/850, if you're not planning to leverage TRBO functionality. I have a few in service and have nothing but good things to say about them (as long as heavy-handed techs keep their metal tools away from the slugs thus fracturing them... that's another story).

My shop currently has around 45 VHF and about double that in UHF Trbo repeaters in service. About 1/3 in public safety, the rest in commercial service. We have had one failure so far, a failed PA on a UHF that was programmed at the 25 watt level.

It was one of the very first units ever installed, and had been purchased at the same time that the first demo batch came out. Other than that, no problems. We are currently waiting for it to come back from repair, I will let everyone know what the problem was.
