CPS Programing Question

Post by bomberosags »

I have an Astro Saber III with a flash code Flashcode = 000008-0000-0 .

When I read the codeplug using my CPS v05 In the conventional and trunking area I notice several digital options available for programing. For example, In the talkgroups there ins a TX format (Digital, Analog) also in trunking systems I see a digital tab where I can select it this is a Digital compatible system.

Ok here comes the question, Does this mean that my radio will work on a digital type II system?

I do not have a working system near by, but rumor has it that the Type II system where I live is a hy-bird and very soon will be crossing over to Digital.

Your flashcode is not all there. There should be some more digits. Sounds like you have a vselp digital radio which is rather outdated. It does not work with todays IMBE equipment.

Good call. I bet the firmware is from the stoneage - sometime around the period the wheel was being invented

bomberosags, what is the Host & DSP in that radio?

To get the Host/DSP information, withing 5 seconds of powering up the radio, press the small side button with two dots 5 times. The info scrolls fast, so you may have to do this a few times to gather all the info - especially if your firmware is super old......

Now now, a VSELP radio isn't always undesirable.

If this guy lives near Cleveland, OH or some other city using a VSELP trunked system (and I don't recall the others), a VSELP radio may be very desirable. I have one, it's very stable and does analog stuff, MDC, Digital ID display and the whole works... just not IMBE, when weather conditions are right, you can bet I can demodulate the audio from Cleveland as it ducts across the lake.

If he doesn't want VSELP, maybe he's lucky enough to have a newer VSELP radio with a 1Meg board in it. If so, then there's some hope for upgrading to IMBE.

I was programing my Astro Saber, and the lights went out and lost everything. Now I get the nice little error FAIL 01/82. I am told to reprogram the codeplug. I am using CPS 5.02.
When I resent the codeplug I get a notice that the Radio in inhibited and that I have to go to a DEPOT o Dispatch to re activate this. I know this not to be the case since we do not have a dispatch panel for our system.

What I have been told to do is get a code plug for the same radio model (different serial) and do a clone.

Any tips, and if you have a code plug please send me a copy, PLEASE!!!
