I'm trying to read a Xts2500I uhf and I'm getting an error on read, it says "unable to unpack block zone channel assignment" the if you tell it okay it comes up with "PassII- unable to transfer block zone channel assignment from cpdb to db" then aborts the unpack. Anyboby have any ideas?

That's an unusual error. What version of CPS are you using? Is that a panter radio?

I'm pretty sure its not a panter radio, but it is a little unusual. It got q52 only and was apparently working fine until having cps 12 used on it. I have a codeplug for the radio now that will open, but i'm trying to straighten out the 240 personality bs I'm using cps 12 btw.

If it has Q52, and no Q53 and you write to it with CPS 10 and above you will lose the FPP option. I don't know what the error is, but it never should have had CPS 12 used on it.

I think what Jim means to say is: if it has Q52 but not Q53... it's an R09 radio. Use CPS R10 or greater, and you have a problem. In a 5000, FPP goes away (radio looks like it never had FPP, though Q52 stays active in the flashcode). Not sure what happens in a 2500... but, R12 should never have been used on it.

R 12 was used on it before I got to it, but I got a saved codeplug from the owner and was able to open that, correct the 240 personality 15 zone 16 chan bs and write that to the radio. Weird...

I take it after reading that panter radios have problems programming?

This was not a Panter radio. This radio was a trip. I ended up getting the codeplug straightened out, but this particular radio only had q52. The Panter radios have both q52 and q53 and work like any other FPP astro 25 radio in my experience. I have had and do have a few Panter radios, none with any issue except generic serial number.

Are you still having problems with it? I see the thread is 2 months old...

It looks like the CPS is complaining about how many channels per zone or personalities assignments.
It's getting confused transferring this information from codeplug database (cpdb) to CPS database (db) to decypher it and display it.

To correct: Try a clone or write a good codeplug over it.

I had a 5k come with Q52 only, and everytime you went to add a channel, trunked system, MDC or whatever, 4 more would appear and do weird stuff. It had a similar looking flashcode. Straigtening out the flashcode was the only best option.

Without beating a dead horse, I think the biggest problem with the radio is that it's a Q52 only radio that was hit with R12 CPS... The R12 CPS wants the codeplug formatted to the newer FPP standard which is a 1-1 chan/personality setup in the zone.

A radio with a Q52 only style flashcode that uses R09.xx.xx CPS works great, and actually allows more user flexibility. You are not locked down as much as the more current FPP codeplugs are with Q52 & Q53. With a R09 radio, you are still able to assign trunking or conventional in a zone, you are not locked into 1 signalling system, you can drag & drop alot easier between different codeplugs, and you don't have to have 1 conv personality for each channel..

I guess the point still is, if you have a Q52 only flashcode and R09 or below firmware/CPS, do not blast it with anything higher than R09.xx.xx CPS.. It will give you nothing but headache trying to re-config your codeplug, you will not gain any new features offered in a more recent version of CPS without more recent firmware, and the biggest issue is.....you will loose FPP...

@ TPG I got the radio corrected, by blowing in an old codeplug shortly after this thread was created. The cps really did not like the original codeplug, but took the other and let me correct it to the proper ver 10 and greater restrictions. The thread was bumped up by someone who thought it was a Panter88 radio, had to correct them.

@ PJ This radio was a hack job, not sure how, but it was not factory.

@ Mfire39 I agree, if it had not been touched with cps 10 by the owner it would have been a great radio. Then after it had lost fpp from being touched by 10, 12 really had fits with decoding the codeplug.
