Yep, I am in big trouble. Just reprogramed 30 HT1250s and 8 of 12 CDM1250 no problem. When I got to the Chief of Departments vechical the radio bricked when I was sending the codeplug. How do I fix this. The radio is almost two years old.

I went on and did the rest of the CDMs and had no problems.

Do a search for EEPRM CS ERROR or EEPROM CS ERROR
There are many in depth posts on how to correct this error.

Couple of things to try (each number is a different unrelated task)
1. Program the last known good codeplug into the radio. Try over and over and over again.
2. If it is under two years old, send it for warranty repair
3. Flash the radio
4. Use the unofficial Waris LAB tool to write another radio's information into your radio. This requires professional equipment as your radio will need retuning with service monitor. The other radio's soft pot tuning data will be in your radio.

Some suggestions to avoid and recover from this type of problem in the future...
  • Read ALL of your Waris series radios with Global tuner and save the soft pot settings for each radio. If you blank the radio info, you can set the tuning info back to the way it was before the EEPROM Check Sum error without having to take it to a shop to have it retuned.

Read codeplug, SAVE it immediately after reading. DO NOT modify the saved version. Make your changes on the PC. Write the codeplug to the radio. If the codeplug writes to the radio successfully, only then overwrite the saved version. It is sometimes possible to program the last good codeplug back into the radio after EEPROM Check Sum error.

Use genuine Motorola brand ribless cable plugged into the rear 20 pin connector of the radio. Especially if radio is remote mounted. It is more expensive but can save headaches later on.

Do not use any type of USB to serial adapter. Use a computer with actual serial port.

Just curious... What type of cable / rib were you using? Generic brand? Genuine Motorola OEM brand? rib or ribless? plugs into mic jack or plugged into 20 pin rear connector? Is the radio remote mount or dash mount?

Close any other programs while programming. Even Instant messengers. All you need is for a friend to pop in and say "HI" in the middle of you writing a codeplug.

Use latest version of CPS (although a few new versions have caused me problems, they seemed to be corrected in later releases)
I know, some of you are saying, you don't do all of that and you don't have any problems. Consider yourself lucky. These tips are provided to help minimize problems.
