Astro Saber 3 Battery Icon

A buddy of mine purchased 2 VHF AS3's not too long ago. These came from a surplus lot from a federal agency. Here's the problem, we can not get rid of the flashing battery icon on the screen. We have tried about 10 different fully charged batteries, and we still get the same result. I can not find the option in the CPS to shut off the low battery icon either. We were however, able to remove the beeping alert for low battery. Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening? Also, with a full battery, the radio can stay on for a few days, and with transmit, for about 4-5 hours (guessing/estimating) on HAM frequencies.
Thanks,
Peter.

What's the firmware in the radio?

I want to say that at least in the DOS RSS service mode, there is a way to adjust how the low battery alert can be set. If you CPS, try loading up the tuner application and see if there is a similar setting.
Also...make sure your contacts are clean and secured. I have come across a few that due to dirty contacts, the voltage to the radio was lower than the battery actually was.
One final thing...don't assume that the battery is completely good, just because it stays on for awhile (unless your TX'ing quite a bit). I've had hi-cap batteries that would do what your saying, but when you really went to use them, they were essentially useless.

There's no battery gauge setting in Windows CPS

I did not save his CP on my computer. So I am unable to come up with a CP at the moment. I also tried the Tuner Software with no luck. Any other ideas on what to do? - One more thing, 2 out of those 10 or so batteries tried were brand new IMPRESS batteries that already ran a few cycles and were charged using the proper charger.

For some odd reason, when I open the CP on my computer, I am able to get all the info except the Firmware. In the Firmware box, it says "Unknown". Can anyone help me. I did not re-read his radio, just opened up the CP saved on the computer.
Peter.

You will need to read the radio into the computer in order to know the firmware, or enter service mode by pressing one of the side buttons, I think the one marked with two dots, five times when the radio is powered up.

I have this same problem with a VHF AS3 that I just purchased. According to service mode, it is R 4.01.00, I06.02.00, EMC 01.00. All I have is Windows CPS R 5.02. Am I screwed?
