maratrac question

Post by moustache »

Hello, I currently have a Maratrac 100 watt mobile unit with the clam shell head.
A/b zone knob instead of the squelch knob. The radio is also set up with the PCRT repeater.
I have two questions I know you guys can help me with.
1. Can this radio be programmed to scan all channels that are programmed into it?
2. can this radio's head be changed to the newer A9 head with the display?

Radio model # T73XTA7DA2BK

Any infor is greatly appreciated.

1. Can this radio be programmed to scan all channels that are programmed into it?
With a clamshell head, it can be programmed for 8 channels with scan, or for two banks of 8 channels with no scan. It doesn't matter what label is on the second knob (the one labeled A/B on your head), the "zone" and "scan" head are the same, except for the labeling. The only difference is in how it is programmed.

2. can this radio's head be changed to the newer A9 head with the display?
Yes and no. There is no "A9" head for the Maratrac. There is, however, an "A7", which looks like an "A9" (the A9 is a Spectra head, not usable on a Maratrac). You may already know this, and made a typo, or didn't know the correct terminology. Either way, yes, any Maratrac can be programmed for an A7 (called "Advanced Head" in the RSS) with the RSS.
