Advanced System Key newbie questions

I recently upgraded from my old MTS2000 M3 to a mint XTS5000 bought from a guy that works @ our radio vendor. I have CPS 12 and was provided the appropriate system key for the analog system that my service is currently on. I read the radio with CPS no problem, but apparently in his infinite wisdom, when he programmed it, he put in one of the statewide P25 systems that we use for disaster operations, and programmed that particular system with an ASK. I can't even edit a scan group now, as everytime I try to write the codeplug it says I need an advanced key. I can't rightly go whining as I got a great deal on the radio ($750), but I'd like to be able to edit at least the basic system options, jeez. From the reading I've been doing I've come to understand its basically impossible to edit systems programmed with an ASK...is there a way to simply wipe the radio and start from scratch? I don't need the P25 system (we never use it anyway), more interested in working with the older smartnet system. Any help is appreciated.

You will need to get the person who created the orig codeplug and get the key.

Once you have that you should be able to take that option out.

I think you can keep the system, but you need to remove the write protect option. This will allow you to edit the conv, but not the P25 statewide (ASK) trunk sys. All of this would have to be done by the ASK holder.
