MT-2000 Call Alert Help

Hello,
I work on and maintain the radios at the Sheriff's Dept I work for. I just recently started helping the local EMS with their radios as well. They are currently using QCII to alert their trucks but, would like to change this over to MDC Call Alerting. With 12 trucks plus supervisors working on a busy day, the tones are somewhat annoying.

Ok, here's my question... All of the trucks use MT-2000s, and when I go in and set it up for Call Alert it works but, the alert tone keeps beeping every few seconds until it manually reset. If the dispatcher is announcing the call, the beep will cover them up. I can not find an option in the MT-2000 rss for alert tone reset or anything. I did take some backup HT-1000s they had and tried it with them, and its works fine. The beep will stop if there is voice activity coming through, and continue when it is done.

Also, if I can get this feature working right, I will want to set up a Page Only channel that will stay muted until the unit is alerted. The only way I can get it to do this is to set it to a fake PL tone and select it to unmute with either PL or Call Alert. This of course lets the call alert through, but as soon as its done, the channel mutes back and wont let the voice be heard.

Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks,
Justin

You've invoked "Call Alert", which emulates a non-voice pager.

You want "Sel Call," which emulates a voice pager or a sender-controlled unmute. Not sure that Sel Call was a feature in the MT2000.

A MT2000 should support MDC SelCall just fine.

Ok, ill play with it later on. Will the SelCall do an alert tone on the radio, or just open up the muted channel?

Also, as far as setting up a "page" channel with selcal that will unmute when it receives the call, as well as stay open for voice, how do I go about this?

Thanks,
Justin
