I'm having an issue flashing two Astro Spectra W4's that I have on the bench here. I've never flashed a W4 before but I thought it would have been the same as the W7's I've been flashing. I've tried to do it from the back through the regular programming cable and through the flashport cable plugged into the front port (mic). When you plug the flash cable into the W7's the screen goes blank but it's not doing that with these. They just sit there and when you try to read the flash config, the software hangs and then says it can't read the flash config. Using CPS R05.03.00
Here is the radio information:
Model: D04UJF9PW4AN
Current Flash: 500008-000000-1
Firmware: 11.04.01.00
DSP: N07.03.16
New Flash: 500008-000400-7

Re: W4 Flash Problems - Please Help!
Dash or remote mount? I've only ever used the securenet port under the rubber flap on the drawer unit when in remote configuration, but if your's is in dash config, you should be able to complete this by going thru the mic port. It's been awhile but i dont think you can flash upgrade a remote mount radio thru the mic port.
You cannot flash with the regular RSS cable thru the DB15 however.

Re: W4 Flash Problems - Please Help!
Thanks for the post. I do appreciate it. I should have known this. The problem is that the computer was too fast. I was using the mic port properly but the computer I was using was too fast. As soon as I switched computers, everything was fine.

That's a new one on me, with regards to CPS. Can you be more specific?Jack wrote:The problem is that the computer was too fast.
Re: W4 Flash Problems - Please Help!
I was running a Dell D610 at first. With CPS reading and writing codeplugs, it was no problem. Works like a charm but when it came to flashing the radio, it would never start. You hit the button and the radio would just sit there, the computer would stall and after a couple minutes, it would say flash upgrade failed. I went to a slower IBM computer that we've had for quite a long time and tried it there, the flash upgrade worked fine.

I've flashed with a D610 and my current C2D T61p, with no difficulties. CPU speed doesn't affect CPS. You have some other issue with your D610.Jack wrote:I was running a Dell D610 at first. Re: W4 Flash Problems - Please Help!
Well, whatever. The flash was upgraded and that's all I care about.
