When I turn on my stx it has an alternating high low beep when i power up, then a continuos tone and the display stays lit up.
I have a feeling that the controler is bad but need confirmation is there a way to tell.

Just a thought, but you may want to wait until one of the pros write a reply but you can short pins 2 & 4 and the power up the radio. It should self test and display the s/n and controller version, etc///

I am also a newbie at the stx radios so please dont do this until someone else like maybe Elroy replies to this post for ya.

Also wondering if ya had a codeplug to send me for this radio since I am 100% lost when it comes to programming the STX and other trunked radios and I would like to see whats what, and how a codeplug looks like when its programmed right.

You can also private message me if you dont want to post in the "clear" about the c/p.

Thanks

Hello.

If the radio has low voltage, it will make an alternating high/low, this can be a bad battery, or battey connection, the easy way to find out, put it in a convertacom, this will provide power directly to the radio.

Thank You.

Just a note I don't think it is the power since I swaped the controler board which is 1.1 with another in the unit to a 5.1 and the unit works. When I put the 1.1 in the other stx it same reaction so I narrowed it down to the board but still perplexed as to whether the board is bad or what.
thank you again for your response

I have been lucky, I have never had a bad controller, just ones I cannot use, type I only.

Thank You.

I know this may be a stupid question, but is it currently programmed on an active trunking system??? If not, then that would probably explain the long tone, it can't affiliate with a system.

Yes is programed but still on power up hi low tone and the low tone stays continuos until turned off. The displays also shows lights up everything until being turned off.
