XTS5000 Scan Problem

I have 2 XTS5000's version 12 firmware on a 800Mhz Type 2 system set to priority monitor and priority 1 set to selected channel, while scanning and sitting on a talkgroup someone will start talking on another talkgroup and it will goto that talkgroup and then when someone starts talking on the priority channel im sitting on it will switch back like it should but it will mute for like 5 seconds and I miss what was said. I have Xts3000's, Astro Sabers, and Astro Spectras set the same way and don't have this problem. I have checked all setting and compared them to my other radios and tried scanning on 10 talkgroups instead of 15 along with talkgroup scan with no luck. Has anyone else has this problem?

Are your radios affiliating properly with the system?
I once saw behavior like you described with a radio that powered on but hadn't affiliated yet. Once it affiliated, pri-scan audio worked perfectly.

I've also noticed this with XTS-5000's on certain occassions. It doesn't happen all the time, but most of the time for sure.

I have also noticed it will not unmute for 3 to 4 seconds when sitting on a talkgroup with scan off. It doesn't do it a lot but it will do it more than I like and I have compared all of my user settings to other working radios like XTS3000's or Astro Sabers. Have you had this problem or does anyone have an idea why the radio does this, I have only seen this with the XTS5000's?

Add me to the list of people having issues unmuting - scanning or not. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be a real a pain. Only having problems on the 3600 system with digital TG's.
Running firmware R12.00.11 / DSP R12.00.01 - XTS5000 700/800

Yes 3600 systems both analog and digital with the same firmware.

Ours is also a 3600 system with analog and digital talk groups.

Hopefully it's just a firmware issue that will be fixed soon. I imagine this is a major problem for public safety if there radio will not unmute for the first few seconds.

I have an XTS5000 that is used daily on a SmartNet system, and I have never observed the behavior reported here. That implies that the issue is not firmware related.
I have no obvious solution, but one thing I would check is the selection of trunking format in the "System" page. There are three choices: Message Trunking, PTT Trunking and PTT-ID Trunking. The setting in subscriber radios must match the selection elected in the system controller.

I know you said the radio was properly affiliated to the system but this is a classic symptom of a radio that is not properly affiliated. Get with your system manager and insure you are properly setup in the system.

Does cycling the power on the radio cause it to re-affiliate with the system? I was doing some reading here and we are having the same problem with it not un-muting for a few seconds and the local tech's told us to cycle the power on the radio. I am not sure if they are just pulling answers out of the air but does it work?

Yes, if you turn the power on then off or switch channels it will affiliate but you should not have to do this to make the radio work.

On a P25 9600 system I understand it not working if you do not affiliate but on a P25 9600 system it works fine and it will unmute like it should. On a 3600 system affiliating properly it will not unmute every once in a while which gets to be a bit of a pain and I was wondering if it is the XTS5000 or just the latest firmware?

On the radios I see the issue with, I'm one of the folks managing the zone controller, so I can watch the controller and see the radios affiliate. At least for us, that's not the issue.
