Hi all, looking for info to connect my Quantar to a VOIP Asterisk link of some sort, what do I need?
I have heard the word SAM board in the past along with a 4 or 8 wire line card, but SAM info is slim to none?

Anyone get me started?

Thanks.

The 4-wire or 8-wire interface will equip the Quantar for transmit and receive audio I/O which you can connect to a variety of situations. Receiver activity indicator and PTT I/O are also available. These functions are described in the system applications section of the Quantar instruction manual.

The SAM - [Station Access Module] equips the station for over-the-air control, for example by MDC or DTMF. This capability could be used to enable / disable the station's connection to the VOIP connection. Alternatively, the Quantar could be interfaced to an external repeater controller [e.g. CAT, Link, Arcom] which could itself be interfaced to the VOIP link.

All this presumes analog only operation of the Quantar. Interfacing an external device or controller to a digital or mixed mode Quantar would be done through a DIU or DIU3000.
