USB Not Recognized

I have an XTS-5000 I'm trying to read, a radio that has worked fine many times in the past. However, when I plug it into the computer now through USB, it's showing "Usb device not recognized" in windows. We have tried this on two different computers with the same error. Anyone here ever see that issue before? Sounds like a trip to the depot is in order unless I can get an answer here. Any help would be appreciated.

First question that comes to the minds of everyone who reads your question is, "Where did you get the cable you're using?" Problems with this type of connection are very common, usually involving the issue of quality/suitability/etc.

Jack -
Can you try it in another computer? I have found that Windows likes to wig out at random with USB. Also, if you have another to test with, hook that up and see if it reads.

try going into the device manager and deleting the device then re-inserting the cable

Here is the deal so far:
Tried it on computer "A" with a standard Motorola cable. This is the appropriate cable and works fine when we put another radio on it. We actually took a bunch of 2500's and 5000's. All worked but this one XTS-5000.
Tried it on computer "B" with a different cable and did the same thing.
Tried to remove it from device manager and even update the driver, still nothing. Very strange. Multiple USB ports, multiple computers etc. Seems like a radio problem that might end up getting fixed at good ole' MOTO

I should have asked this before...
What Firmware revision is it, and did you try with a serial cable? If it's an old version [edit to add using a serial cable], upgrade the firmware then try the USB.

Firmware is 12.00.11 and we have not tried it with a serial cable. We'll try that now and see what happens.

it sounds like it's not your cable or computer, try using a pencil eraser on all of the contacts

Yep, it was the radio. So get this... The plug on the board where you plug in the case, it was loose and came off when I was attempting to try a new case. Sooo, it appears that it was very loose in the first place, sometimes making contact and sometimes not.
