xts 2500 major problem with programming

I'm not sure what I did but I was programming my xts 2500I model 3 and halfway through the part where it was writing to the radio it stopped and said unable to finish. I disconnected the cable and tried again, this time it popped up the screen saying hardware failure in port or radio, I turned the radio off and then back on and the screen says nothing more than fail 01/82, and the radio will do nothing. Can someone help me out or tell me what I need to do. I use CPS R12.xx.xx and have the tuner as well if that helps out.

What's your firmware version? R11.00.00 by any chance?

I'm not really sure I had it when I could access the service mode on the radio but here's the info I could get off of my original codeplug if that'll tell you anything. Under radio information it shows Model: H46KDH9PW7BN Flashcode: 500008-000410-5 Codeplug: 0015 under tracking and under versioning it says Codeplug:0017 Like I said though this is a panter88 radio, and I don't really want to have to chance it with sending it in to Motorola and never getting it back.

Ouch! Depot time. Thats a external eeprom checksum failure. There are no common tools available to clear that error.

If you have the codeplug backed up, you should still be able to write to a Fail 01/82 radio. Fail 01/82 is an External EEPROM Checksum Failar, and writing a good codeplug should bring the radio back to life.

Now if you can write a codeplug to the radio, but still comes up with Fail 01/82, then you have the dreaded timebomb R11.00.00.

Even when firmware 11.00.00 bricks the radio, it will still accept a codeplug written to the radio, but it just won't clear the fail 01/82 checksum error because the checksum error is comming from the dynamic block of data in the codeplug that the CPS doesn't write to the radio.

Well I finally resolved it as I was typing in a reply about the problem I tried to write it again and was typing in the exact error code and I heard the radio beep into program mode and tada its fixed. Any chance I can get someone to help me get it to do an ok to talk tone on my end and a trailing tone as well. Ya'll tell me what you'd need to know about the frequencies and all and I'll be more than happy to send them as I've been told w/out trunking I can't get a key up and trailing tone.

Issue is resolved at first I was typing in that I tried rewriting the codeplug with no change in radio behavior, but this time I left the radio connected to the computer and did not click ok in the error window since I was trying to type exactly what the error message said even with all the context and status numbers. Somehow this left program mode on the radio screen while I was typing the error message into my reply and next thing I know I hear a noise on both the computer and radio and to my astonishment there is now a write sucessful message on the computer, and my radio is back to the way it should be with acception that its vhf and not an 800Mhz FPP fully trunked radio like I want. Since this is fixed and I can get on with my merry little programming and tinkering life could someone help me out with putting an ok to talk and trailing tone on this radio. It is a non-trunked conventional analog vhf frequency that it would be going on and I can give any further details needed to help out from the cps r 12.xx.xx codeplugs I have it set to run on.

You need to put the radio into test mode, or read it with cps and post your firmware revision. If it is 11.00.00 you got really lucky and need a firmware bump.

Ok I read the radio in the tuner to see if I got better info than in CPS and here's what I got
Tuning/Hardware version: C52A/R01.09.10
Host Version: R10.00.00
DSP version: R10.00.00

In CPS the only additions I can find to what I've provided above are the following
*******Firmware*******:R10.00.00
PSDT: R04.00.00
Bootloader: R02.00.00

Can anyone decipher any problems with what I've found so far or tell me anything else to check in the radio ?

I just meant I'd prefer having an 800 Mhz trunked radio with the FPP option, but I have to settle for the fact that my radio is just a plain old vhf

That's a pipe dream, as trunking and FPP don't mix under the current CPS and firmware.
