Hi Folks~
I have an EX600-XLS uhf, marked 5.04.00 on the inside tag & i am asking 2 questions:
1- i see there are USB & 9-pin programming cables available - are either better/worse?
2- what CPS version is needed? I am assuming 6.10.4, but might it need something older/newer? Any way to tell for sure?
tnx
Kreick

usb was never an oem option for that radio. usb cables and usb adaptors probablly kill more radios than anything else. stick with oem and you'll be ok. the 9 pin is a ribless cable and will work fine along with the 25 pin and a rib. 5.04.00 is the firmware in your radio, it's starting to get old now and you might want to have it updated soon if you plan on keeping that radio, it's over 5.13.09 now. almost any cps will read you radio with that firmware but if you update the firmware to new you will also need new cps, i think 5.13 was the cutoff for firmware needing new cps?

From my own experience USB Cables are JUNK!!! I had one for my EX600 I'm currently running firmware 05.14.00 and this is my second one (Fried the first one whiten 2 weeks of having it by trying to program it with a USB Cable. That's when i turned around and purchased a Ribless 9pin and haven't had ANY problems since then at all.
I was lucky that the store I baught my radio from had NO IDEA what the error on my screen was (I told them i had no clue how it happened) so they gave me a brand new radio and sent mine back to /\/\otorola.
Lesson Learned NO USB!!!
