XTS5000 QCII encoding question

Morning,
I have been reading some posts about the QCII encoding and I seem to be missing something in the software. Radio is programmed for QCII but programming the top purple button for call I get a screen that says ID with four dashes in it. The channel is set up for QCII and it will decode correctly but how do you get it to encode for the TX channel you are on? Flashcode for this radio is: 500008-000482-8 Firmware R07.00.00 if that helps.
Thanks

You're not going to be doing any QCII (encode or decode) unless your firmware is R08.00.00 or higher...

And you'll be lucky to do any decoding then. The XTS suck for QCII, you can not adjust timeing. I think the radio is looking for a 1/3 timeing and almost no systems use that.

My UHF XTS (with Host 9.x) decodes our QCII tones generated by our Zetron console and transmitted over our Kenwood repeaters just peachy...

1 second /3 second timing is qc2b. Pretty much the standard for every motorola qc2 paging system out there.

Yup, thats pretty much the majority of whats out there..
Can't say I've ever had a decoding problem with any of mine either, and thats using A-B / A-C, and longtone combo's...

Here's a hint: because of its internal DSP, XTS2500 and XTS5000 portables are very sensitive to over-driven QC tones (and, for that matter, alert tones). I've encountered more than one system where the tones are sent too hot, older analog subscribers (primarily MTS portables) receive and process them just fine, but the XTSs do not. Dropping the sent tone level down to "average voice" levels always cures the problem.

I'm wondering when laramiecountyCERT is going to chime back in to his post and fill us in on how his radio is decoding QCII with R07.00.00 firmware...

Actually it was my XTS2500 that was decoding the QCII tones the XTS5000 will not do this, happens when you have two radios that look so much alike. I will have to send the 5000 in for updating so it will do QCII encode and decode. The 2500 is what I carry for work and the 5000 is sitting on the test bench for monitoring purposes. My bad.
