I have a XTS3000 Model 1 VHF that sounds an audible tone, 1/4 second or so, when the PTT is initially depressed. The tone is audible to the user but is not transmitted. It's not the low battery chirp heard when the PTT is released, assuming a low battery. That's the only option I see in the Alert Tones section.
Does anyone know how I can get rid of the sound? I thought of turning off all alert tones, but want to keep the alert sound associated with scanning.
Thanks!
Eric

Re: XTS3000 PTT tone
I can think of two things I have seen cause this.
1. If your radio is secure equipped and you have the "TX clear alert" box checked on the secure config->advanced tab in CPS.
2. If you have "smart PTT" set to "inhibit on correct NAC" on a digital TX personality and TX while scanning. If you are scanning when you PTT you will get a short tone followed by normal TX. Following PTTs will not have the tone as long as they are done during the scan hangtime. Let the hangtime expire and you get the beep on the PTT again. Turn off scan, no beep.

Also if there is MDC you can enable a tone on Pre PTT for it. Look in the MDC settings too

Re: XTS3000 PTT tone
Thank you immelmen28! I changed the secure settings and the beep disappeared. None of the personalities in the radio were secure so the beep was sounding constantly.immelmen28 wrote:I can think of two things I have seen cause this.
