GTX800 to RX 897Mhz.. ?

Since the GTX is sooo similar to the MaxTrac apparently.... I am betting that an 800Mhz radio can be made to RX out of band up to 897Mhz- at least that's what I'm looking to do.

I've modified to MDF to allow it to be programmed there, so that's fine I think..

I have no RX of course though as more mods need to be done and this is where I need help.

Are there band-pass filters somewhere under the hood? I have the thing dismantled in front of me now and don't see anything there looking like filters, then again I don't have a service manual either.

What else would I need to do? mod the VCO? I don't get any errors on the display that would lead me to believe there is a VCO issue.
