I have a UHF DN model I picked up from a friend. I attempted to program it with RSS, and it took the codeplug. It then however would not tx (no red light, no locked out bleep). Freq is within range of HT, not sure if there is a programming trick...? Wrote origional codeplug back into HT, and works fine.

If i only changed programming on 2 channels it will let me tx on the others, just not the ones I reprogrammed....

what is the exact model number on the back of the radio? and does it match the model number in the cps when you read it?

Are you sure you didn't inadvertantly select "RX Only" for those two channels you tried to re-program? If you do that you can only program a receive freq and the "TX Freq" field will be greyed out in the RSS, thus you're unable to write a TX frequency for that channel. The radio will act just as you have described when you press the PTT.

We don't have any idea of your level of experience programming these radios, so just starting with the basics. You need to program in a TX as well as a RX frequency, even if they're both the same and you're wanting to operate the channels in simplex mode. Without a TX freq. programmed into the channel you WON'T see the red transmit LED light come on, and you WILL hear the "bonk" tone when attempting to transmit.

Nope, not rx only. The thing that gets me is that if it was tx inhibited on those channels it should bleep on attempt to key up, and it does not. Simply does not do anything on those channels.

As for the model, I do not have it in front of me until this weekend, but it is a DN model with a white label.

RSS says the freq range is 403-470.

Freqs tried to put in were 466.3875 and 469.4375.

The friend who I traded for this radio said there was a trick to program it, but it does not look or act in RSS like it would be out of band...

Am I missing what type of narrowband it is or such? I tried 12.5 and 20 and full and neither worked. Its a DN so it should do narrowband...

I suspect a bad hack-job. Post the full model #.

i'm guessing it was originally a 2 channel radio that some incorrectly hacked up to 16 channes. what is sthe exact model number

My misunderstanding. I thought you WERE getting the "bonk" tone when pressing PTT.

The HT1000 is narrowband capable (down to 12.5 khz), but you won't be able to program those particular splinter frequencies into it. To be able to program in both of the frequencies you've indicated, you'd need a radio that resolves down to 2.5 khz.

Interesting... And the crappy Radius SP50's we have do it and a HT1k won't... woah.

My mistake, you're right. I fuddled the decimal in my calculator. Both of those should go into the HT1000 if it's working properly. My apoligies...

Go ahead and post the model number as the guys asked for above. Maybe they can help you figure it out.

Radio is a white label H01RDC9AA3DN

I am finding out now that the radio was supposedly modified for ham use....

So do I hex it back somehow or find another codeplug for the same model...?

there is no "modifying" an HT1000 for ham, that split radio will already cover the 420-450 ham band, just program it like any other radio. possibly a controller swap was done and as others pointed out, a bad hackjob done to the codeplug.
