RLN1015C SmartRIB will work for Astro Sabers & XTS3000?

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi all!

RLN1015C SmartRIB is compatible with Astro Sabers and XTS3000? I mean firmware update, NOT regular programming.
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.

The RLN1015 SmartRIB is in fact the only RIB you can use to conduct a firmware upgrade on any of the following:

MTS2000
MCS2000
Astro Saber
XTS3000
Astro Spectra

A "C" revision SRIB will work fine to conduct upgrades on any of the above, with the exception of P25 9600 firmware for the Astro and XTS radios. This requires a "D" revision 2mb SRIB, because the size of the Host ROM firmware + the DSP ROM firmware exceeds the 1mb capacity of the "C" revision.

Ok, thank you very much for comprehensive response!

You mean not common 800 MHz only firmware discussed here http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=36815 ?

I want to upgrade XTS3000 to the current Host/DSP versions: 07.71.06 / 08.03.05. I hopes that these Host/DSP not special versions with 9600 Trunking. Correct?

C revision of SmartRIB will work for them?

As has been discussed before, the P25 9600 firmware for the Astro and XTS radios only works on 800MHz trunking. It does not work for OBT.

I tried recently and RLN1015C works fine.

First upgrade of XTS3000 taken about 20 minutes! SRIB firmware upgrade?

The .cvn firmware file uploads to the srib first, and then to the radio.. If you were doing more than one upgrade of the same type of radio, you would only have to wait for it to write the firmware to the radio for the second one, and not to the srib again if using the same .cvn..

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Ok, thanks for explanation!

But SRIB is upgradable or no?
