Astro Spectra 9000 Control Head - Mic Extension Cable?

Ok, so I am looking at purchasing an Astro Spectra with the 9000 control head, and using the 9000 head till i can get my hands on a HHCH for it. Never had one before, but from what it looks like the regular white Motorola mic that plugs into it plugs into the back of the control head?
Only problem is, my only available mounting location for a 9000 head is basically right on top of the dash directly above the two middle aircon vents. That means that the mic clip has to be mounted below this, further down the center console, or beside where the radio/stereo controller is. When picturing trying to hang up the mic after talking, being that the clip is below the actual radio control head, I see all kinds of problems with the mic cord getting in the way, or at least constantly blocking some of the car's dash controls.
My question is: Does anyone know of any extension cables for Astro Spectra's regular white mic, so that I could possibly run the extension from the control head to behind the dash and back out through the driver/passenger footwell and then connect the mic (kind of the same way a HHCH would be mounted, but without it actually being a HHCH) thus eliminating the cord-in-the-way issue, or is there nothing I can do but compromise on the mounting location somehow?
Thanks everyone!!
