XTL5000 with 128 modes

Maybe this is obvious, but I couldn't find anything via search.

I have an XTL5000 with an O5 head that is limited to 128 modes.

M20URS9PW1AN
500008-000480-0
HOST/DSP R09.00.00

I have never played with one that had an Odyssey head--is this expected for this radio? Obviously it isn't for the other XTL5000s I've dealt with, but they've all been W series heads.

If this is standard behavior, what will a firmware upgrade get me to?

Do you know the history of the radio? I think the lowest I have ever seen an XTL is 512 when they first came out.

That looks like a flash for a rebanding replacement radio. I'm thinking maybe it was to replace a 128 mode AS mobile?

*edit*

On second thought, with ver 9.00.00 firmware maybe not.

It may very well be, R9 firmware was the earliest revision to include rebanding.

But an Astro Spectra is capable of 256 modes, so maybe it was just an analog spectra.

Umm, nope.. R07.00.00 for Astro25 was the first to support 800MHz rebanding..

and to it I say WHATEVER... the fact remains that R9 supports rebanding.

Yep maybe that is what it was meant to replace.

FYI the W4 and W5 model Astro Spectras are only capable of 128 modes. You need A W3, W7 or W9 to get 256.
