Mocom 70 on 29.6
Hi All, could somone please tell me what would be the best freq to put the extender on on a single freq Mocom 70 on 29.6o.. I tried both recomendations for single freq and multi freq radios and both +4 mhz and + 1 mhz and they both degrade the reciever too much. Have done a bunch of these long time ago but cant remember where I ended up setting the extender. I do have the service manual(as tattered as it is) also the proper test set. any help appreciated and thank you all very much. Davie n-3-c-h-u-at atlanticbb dot net

Wouldn't +4 mHz and +1 mHz put your signal, no matter what power, outside the
amateur band?
amateur band?

'Extender' in this question is sort of a second receiver that listens to noise somewhere near the main receiver frequency and that noise is shaped into pulses that mute the main receiver's IF stage effectively blanking the impulse noise.
The Extender should be tuned to a unused portion of the band near the RX frequency. So in this case I would choose something like 30.5 mhz.

Thank you will, I couldnt have said it better myself. I think I tried 30.6 but 30.5 is a great suggestion. Thank you for your advice. Davie

Back in the day, we used to disable the extender and the customer was most appreciative!
Extender circuits were great for salesmen to promote, and hard for technicians to explain that they only work in labs and on paper.
