HT 1000 Question

Hello there.

I have an HT 1000 radio. I have noticed that the radio does not seem to be as sensitive as other portable radios that my coworkers use. I can pick up most transmissions but I hear things coming over their radios than mine isn't picking up. I was wondering if anyone had a cause for this or a fix I can try myself without sending it out to a repair shop.

Any information and assistance is greatly appreciated. My coworkers are using older Erricson portables and a few Motorola 1250's..

It is possible that the alignment values for the receiver front end which are stored in the 'codeplug' have changed by overwriting the codeplug.
This can also happen when cloning.

An incorrect antenna can also cause similar poor sensitivity problems.

Hi Will,

Thank you for answering my post.

I have two radio's one I cloned and the other I used as the radio that I cloned from.
Is there anyway to tell if the value has changed or must I take it into a shop.
I did put two different antenna's on this radio and got the same result.

It has to be done with RSS and a service monitor. Take it to someone with a service monitor and have them perform an alignment. It's possible that components are on the way out as well...

Thank you for the help.
just for future reference.
When I clone a radio, does this effect the value of both radio's or only the radio I am cloning. Sometimes the guy's at work will get there own and ask me to clone it, I don't mind doing this but don't want to have to take my radio into the shop to get the value's realigned every time. Especially when the charge is 55.00 every half hour.

Sincerely

Andy

Hello,

is there anyone out there who can check the allignment values of an Ht 1000 for me.
i am in Ct and can't afford the 55.00 it would take for a 30 min check up.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I can do the required alignments but I am on the "other coast" in Southern California.

I always READ the radio first and then make changes to the original codeplug information from the radio, then write that back into the same radio.

Cloning is not supposed to change the original donor codeplug information.

Most of the time the radio in question had a different codeplug put into it which will overwrite the alignment values.

The HT1000 RSS did not clone tuning values, unlike older software like the Saber, where the programmer was given the option of cloning with or without the values.

The HT1000 RSS should not have overwritten the tuning values, but we have seen this happen many times.
So to be safe I have NOT cloned any HT1000, JT1000, Visar, for years.

Moustache,s HT1000 is here in my shop. And I did find most soft pot settings out enough that the receive was very poor.
I did the full alignment and will write down the values for Moustache,s future reference.

I am glad I could help.
