CDM Contact Closure

I have heard that a CDM 1550ls+ is capable of providing a contact closure through the the 20 pin connector on the back. I am needing a contact closure at the end of our QCII tones, however I can not figure out which pins need to be used for this, or how to program for it in cps. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

Some of the pins can be set to either toggle or latch high or low with a front button press, but they cannot be set to do so automatically as you seem to need them to do.

I have been wanting to do some sort of station alerting, and this ( http://www.rayvaughan.com/recall.htm ) is the web page I have been looking at. Can someone please explain how the relays are triped, it sounded to me like that the cdm provided contact closure to the timers.

Thanks,
Aaron

Ah, now I see what you mean. Yes, the page explains it quite well. Pin 4 is programmed to provide a timed 'change of state', either active high or low depending on programming. I believe it can be set between 1 to 30 seconds, the page shows it set to '2'.

I have my cdm programmed the same way that it shows on that web sight and I am getting a constant 13 volts out of pin 4, which pin do I pair up with pin 4 to get contact closure?

There's no 'contact closure', you need to use an external relay. Set pin 4 for active low and connect a relay between it and +12volts, then use the relay contacts as your closure.

I have 12+ coming through pin 4 on active low, is this correct? What I am wanting to do is trigger an Altronix 6062 timer, is there a way that upon the QCII tones it sends power to the timer so that it trips it?

Okay, according to the altronix installation notes, Figure 8 shows a normally closed switch setup with the switch between trigger and (-) and a 2000 ohm pullup resistor to (+12v)

Pin 4 of the CDM is connected to a transistor switch with a 4700 ohm pullup to (+12v), when programmed for active low the transistor is normally off, and you get 12v on the pin through the pullup, when programmed for active high the transistor is normally on and the pin is held near ground.

So to use it with the altronix you'll want to program the CDM for active high and connect pin 4 to the trigger input on the 6062. The 6062 calls for a 2K pullup, the 4.7K in the CDM may not supply enough current, so you can add a 3.9K between (+12V) and trigger on the 6062, this will parallel the 4.7K and give you close to the needed 2K.
