I'm considering replacing the MT1000 advanced ConvertaCom in my better half's truck with an SVA, unfortunately, I have zero experience with the Saber units and their capabilities.
Are the up and down arrows on the front of the unit for volume or mode selection? If volume, can you change channels with the HHCH, or do you have to reach into the SVA and change the slector on the radio?
A ridiculously basic question to be sure, but I haven't been able to find an answer elsewhere.
Thanks!

On an SVA (I don't know about AVA's) the arrow button on the left controls volume.
The big button at the top opens the squelch for monitoring, and the RAT buttons are just that. To change channels you must use the knob on the radio, which is why those cool low-profile knobs are not such a good idea if you use your SVA a lot; it's hard to grasp the low-profile knob when the radio is in the SVA. The Saber control mic is the 6150, or 6169 for Systems Saber, and it does what the SVA does, plus you can change zones from the unit. However, if you're using the channel-only mode (not zone/channel operation)then I guess you can change channels from the control mic but I've never tried to do it. The control mic essentially duplicates the three red buttons on the front of the radio.

No the MTS2000 will not work with MT1000, 2 different beasts. The MTS convertacom is actually a cradle the locks radio in with a sideblock arm. What band of MT2000 do you have. I have 2 new amplified UHF MTVAs still in the plastic with all components and parts. $300 each.
