MSR2000, Questions, Help!!

Post by kb0nly »

This is a repeater not a base, 110w continuous duty PA, has all the shields, even the part numbers all say its a repeater, but when i opened it up i found out otherwise, etc...

The first problem is for whatever reason Motorola made it a simplex remote base, they put in a T/R relay and connected to the PA output and receiver input. No problem there i can re-cable it.

However, i can not for the life of me get the receiver to stay on when the transmitter is on. I poured through RBTIP and searched on here like crazy, and i cannot find the answer. I pulled the receiver board and the jumper JU101 is installed, this is supposed to keep the receiver on continuously, and i installed jumper JU103 in hope that was it, JU103 keeps channel 1 selected in the receiver, that still didn't help.

I set up a signal generator and fed it with a signal and 1khz tone just to give me a reference, when i transmit with the mic, the tx momentary switch on the control module, or key it with the PTT connection on the backplane i still loose the receiver audio. I think its actually just muting the receiver to the local speaker?? If so how do you disable that??

Ok, next problem.

The second problem is i can't get this damn thing to encode a PL to save my life. It has a TRN5073A PL Board which is supposed to be a full duplex board, encode and decode at the same time, i think its a jumper problem or something else as i can get it to decode just fine but no matter what PTT line i use i cannot get it to transmit a PL. I have swapped the reeds with a few other spares of different frequencies, still no PL on transmit. So it doesn't appear to be due to a bad reed. How do you make this board encode and decode at the same time??? Can't find it in the manual i have anywhere!!

Offer up some help!
