Hello, I am starting a project and need schematics and any other info on these speaker mics. They will be used with the ht1000 vhf radios. The project is installing a tinytrack3 position encoder and embedded GPS module in the hand mic for use in next years MS Bike-A-Thon. Thanks for your help, Matthew

I believe that most, if not all, of these types of speaker/mics are glued together when
manufactured and can not be taken apart except by destroying the case. I have a 6191
in hand as I write this and it has NO screws showing.

Thanks, Tom, you are absolutely correct about the case. However I have opened one and with a little cleanup work I can get it back together for what I need it to do. I have found (on the model specific info page) the audio in,audio out, ptt, B+ and ground ptt pins that I need. My main problem is finding out how much power (voltage and current) is available at the speaker mic. It looks like I'll need about 7.5 volts @ 15mA and 3.3 to 5 volts @ 65mA. Can you recommend a different speaker mic that will work better? If I can't get the power requirements that are needed at the mic will I be able to find them in the HT itself? You can probably try putting the mic in the freezer for a couple of hours. Then take it out and rap it on the seam.
This works some of the time to fracture the glue and allow opening the mics most of the time.

I see from your comments that you have managed to open the one you have.
