I'm installing a Sigtronics headset system in a fire engine and it will be interfacing with an Astro Spectra. I have the audio pinouts and they work great, however I'm having problems locating a PTT Hi, PTT Lo, Mic Hi and Mic Lo. There is a PTT pinout and a Mic pinout, but I need the pairs (hi/lo). Anybody have an idea of where I can pull these from?

The "digital ground", or just ground, which is like pin 8 or something like that (refer to pinout) will work as the "lo". Probably not wise to use a true ground.

Many of the Astro Spectra radios need to have jumpers moved on the control board to make the PTT and mic to work.

Some radios, depending on how they were originally ordered may or may not have these jumpers all in the correct place.

As the jumpers are surface mount, zero ohm resistors, it is not for the person that hasn't worked on surface mount
components. There are also several versions of the control board used, so it depends on which version of the
control board you have as to just where all the jumpers are.

When you get done moving things around, you should have PTT on pin 13, filtered fixed RX audio on pin 11
(couple pin 11 with a 1.0 uf cap to prevent shorting out the bias on the line), TXAH on pin 15 and ground on pin 8.

Don't forget to tie pin 2 to ground. This is the emergency line.

Ignition, if you need and use it should be on pin 5.

Speaker is pin 6 for high and pin 7 for low. Do not ground either of the speaker pins.

All the above connections are on the DB15 rear accessory connector.

As it just so happens, I stumbled across the jumper diagram in the Astro Spectra service manual recently. See here: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=86092

All of these are on the command board.

I've done the same thing with Astro Spectras and Setcoms in our fire equipment. The jumpers may need to be moved and I did it on an HLN5558H/J board. The schematic I used was for this board as well as HLN6529H, HLN6560J, and HLN6562J. Hopefully you have one of these baords. If so this is what I moved.

JU521 to JU513

As Jim202 said they are surface mount and a little difficult to do with basic soldering devices. I've found that removing them with ordinary irons may damage the traces or the surface of the jumper. I use a hotair desoldering machine and an iron I can set for varied temps so as not to damage anything.
