Radius M208 Scan Problem

Hey all,
I have here a Radius M208 mobile which I somewhat successfully modified to become an M216. Using the instructions on editing the MDF file, I was able to enable 16 channels, the ABILITY to program scan lists, and signalling. The problem that I have now run into is that there is no way to actually turn the scan function on. I have programmed all the scan lists and general scan parameters in the software, but there seems to be no way to get the scan function to activate via the control head.
The control head on the radio is the standard one that comes on the M208 mobile. It has 5 buttons: Channel Up, Channel Down, Monitor, Exit, and Select. I have tried to use the "Exit" button as has been suggested in other threads to no avail.
Is there any way to get this radio to scan? Any help would be appreciated, this is driving me CRAZY!
