Astro Saber Convertacom & Display Mike

Post by N4KVE »

I need a little help here. I have a System Saber & a Convertacom & it came with a special mike with a display that looks exactly the same as the front of the System Saber. All the buttons do the same thing as those on the radio. Is there a similar set up for the Astro Saber & it's convertacom. In other words a display mike that has the same buttons as the radio, or some type of W3 mike. All the convertacoms I've seen on Ebay seem to have regular handmikes. Thanks for any help. GARY N4KVE

Gary,

I recall a relatively recent thread about this exact subject so a search should yield some help if you start with something like HHCH + Astro Saber etc. If I recall correctly, the gist of the thread's conclusion was that an HHCH with the AS convertacom is an unstable, sort of wacky deal with problems, but look around and I'm sure you'll find the thread.

Thanks for the info. Lot's of good reading. I didn't realize I was looking for the "holy grail". I figured since I already had a few AS3's the AVA/HHCH combo would be easier to find & cheaper than the elusive 438-470 Astro Spectra, but after reading all that info, I don't think so . Funny when I was using my System Saber, I found the SVA/HHCH combo at a gunshow for $100 & it worked perfectly. I'm just trying to get a UHF IMBE setup in my car at an economical price. I do have an XTS 3000 but that AVA/HHCH has to cost a fortune. Thanks again. GARY N4KVE
