Can't read Spectra without External Security Housing

Hi All,

I picked up a bunch of Spectras today that originally came from the Border Patrol.

They are front mount units, and all had an access hole cut into the bottom of
the control panel, just under the right hand keypad. I suppose this was
for some type of security device.

My RSS gives me an error when I try to read the radio... Error 81... cannot
access external security housing.

Any idea how to read these guys?

Thanks,

Tim

Yeah, hook up the external SecureNet housing...

Your not going to like it, but general consensus is unless you can hook one up, read the radio and disable the SecureNet unit, you are out of luck. Your best bet would be to buy one if you can find it, or send them to someone who has one and pay them to disable it on all of them.

grrr, kinda figured that would be the case. Oh well, they were free! :-)

I seem to remember that when I was powering them all up that there
were a couple that didn't give me an error on turn-on. (I figured the
error was because the securenet box wasn't attached). Since they
all had the cutouts, perhaps these were programmed without the
box. Then I could clone em. Will update later.

Thanks,

Tim

You will need an ASN box that is programmed as "NORMAL" and not MAIN or AUX as in an SIU dual band setup. I think I still have one in the garage. I will take a look for it and if I find it I'll send you a PM.
